The procedure of
application
1.
Download the
official forms from this website.
2. Apply for an
official transcript from your current school and send it to the Culture Center of TECO in Los Angeles, 9443 Telstar Ave., El Monte, CA 91731, USA, as
early as possible.
3. Email a English personal
statement (in Microsoft Word .doc format) to aid_org@hotmail.com.
Include name, current school, email address, home address, and a recent
photo on the first page of the document. Please check the section of
Enrollment
Guidelines for details. (Note that the expiration date
of your passport must be later than January 10, 2009.)
4. Starting from
January 10, applicants should register for an account at the
aidsummer.org in the section of
Enrollment to fill in their personal data. Once finished, print out
and send in the Internet Confirmation Sheet with the rest of the
application package.
5. Applicants must
send in the application package by February 29, 2008 to the culture
center nearest their home address.
6. We will begin to
review the received application packages starting February 5.
7. The initial
results will be sent to the head office for final review before March 20.
Acceptance letters will be sent out via local culture centers before
March 30. The volunteer ID numbers will be included in the acceptance
letters.
8. Admitted
volunteers must find their volunteer ID number from the acceptance
letter and go online (the web site address will be given in the acceptance
letter) to confirm their participation. They must also go to a family
doctor to complete the Health Certificate and send it in to the culture
center nearest their home address.
9. Admitted
volunteers should also go to the online forum specified in the
acceptance letter to send in their teaching plans and meet other fellow
volunteers. The initial teaching plan and the revised teaching plan and
reflection essay that should be written after the program are mandatory
to be qualified for review by program and school staff to receive the US
President’s Volunteer Award.
10. The assigned
host schools for each volunteer will be announced on the website in
early May.
11. Admitted volunteers are obligated to submit a
reflection and revised teaching plan after the completion of this
program. |
