The procedure of application

1.  Download the official forms from this website.

2. Apply for an official transcript from your current school and send it to the Culture Center of TECO in Los Angeles, 9443 Telstar Ave., El Monte, CA 91731, USA, as early as possible.

3. Email a English personal statement (in Microsoft Word .doc format) to aid_org@hotmail.com. Include name, current school, email address, home address, and a recent photo on the first page of the document. Please check the section of Enrollment Guidelines for details. (Note that the expiration date of your passport must be later than January 10, 2009.)

4. Starting from January 10, applicants should register for an account at the aidsummer.org in the section of Enrollment to fill in their personal data. Once finished, print out and send in the Internet Confirmation Sheet with the rest of the application package.

5. Applicants must send in the application package by February 29, 2008 to the culture center nearest their home address.

6. We will begin to review the received application packages starting February 5.

7. The initial results will be sent to the head office for final review before March 20. Acceptance letters will be sent out via local culture centers before March 30. The volunteer ID numbers will be included in the acceptance letters.

8. Admitted volunteers must find their volunteer ID number from the acceptance letter and go online (the web site address will be given in the acceptance letter) to confirm their participation. They must also go to a family doctor to complete the Health Certificate and send it in to the culture center nearest their home address.

9. Admitted volunteers should also go to the online forum specified in the acceptance letter to send in their teaching plans and meet other fellow volunteers. The initial teaching plan and the revised teaching plan and reflection essay that should be written after the program are mandatory to be qualified for review by program and school staff to receive the US President’s Volunteer Award.

10. The assigned host schools for each volunteer will be announced on the website in early May.

11. Admitted volunteers are obligated to submit a reflection and revised teaching plan after the completion of this program.
